Tennis: Racket handle cap flare customization

For Tennis Players seeking to customize their racket handle.

Someone else on posted this solution on a tennis racket customization thread and wanted to show the results.

I recently switched to Yonex rackets which are terrific but do no have the end ‘butt cap’ flare that some other brands such as Wilson do. Wilson is a leader in this department.

The knob/flare and little extra amount at the end of a tennis racket prevents it from flying out of your hand when you swing, especially on serves and sometimes on very high racket speed forehands. Baseball bats also have this exact small bit for the same reason.

To add some flare to my Yonex, I bought a 10 pack of the common rubber ring that wraps around the finishing tape at the top of the top portion of the handle / throat of a racket (eg. Babolat rackets commonly come with this rubber ring when shipped) and added 3 to the bottom right at the butt cap.

Then added an overgrip. It is much firmer than athletic tape, which is another common solution and feels great.

Happy Customizing. Enjoy!
